I finally moved from Montreal in Canada to Palm Beach Gardens in Florida. After 6.5 years in Canada, where I learnt a lot, I decided to get married and as my wife is living in South Florida, I followed her over there. For 18 years I was living near the sea in France (brittany) and I was missing it a lot in Montreal (1600km away from the sea) so in a way I go back to my roots.
I have a new house to furnish and I plan to resume my activities around April, I will probably work from a spa or share a room with a massage therapist.
In Florida, regulation is different than in Quebec. It seems Reiki here is considered a massage technique and as such you need to be a LMT : Licensed Massage Therapist : basically you need to learn swedish massage for 1 year even if you will never do it again (I don't like to do swedish, I tried it for an intensive weekend training). Another way is to become an ordained minister, and you can choose a church that is very open minded.
And finally the third possibility is to not touch people and call your technique with a new name so you are not categorized under Reiki. My own healing treatment has evolved with the years and is now a combination of various techniques I learnt, I might call it with a different name soon and work without touching as I have mixed both in the past and I seem to learn more about people by working in their aura.
